Registration Tribunal

The Registration Committee conducts formal hearings between the Registrar and applicants for licensure. Applicants who have received a Notice of Proposal to refuse to issue a licence from the Registrar may request a hearing by the Registration Committee. At a hearing, an applicant must demonstrate that the applicant who had received the Registrar’s Notice of Proposal to refuse, meets the requirements set out under the Professional Engineers Act and its Regulations, or, that the applicant should be granted an exemption and will engage in the practice of the professional engineering, with competence and integrity. If the applicant is successful in making that evidence, the Registration Committee can order that the Registrar issue to the applicant a licence, provisional licence, Certification of Authorization, temporary licence or limited licence, as the case may be. Applicants for a licence who meet the requirements for the issuance of a licence, other than the 1 year Canadian experience requirement, may request the issuance of a provisional licence. Applicants who disagree with the Registrar’s proposal to refuse to issue a licence, may also make an additional request to the Registration Committee for an Order directing the Registrar to issue a provisional licence at a hearing of the Registration Committee regarding their contested application for a licence.
