PEO Online Learning Modules

PEO’s Online Learning Modules provide licence holders, volunteers, staff and applicants with various learning and development opportunities. This growing library of brief, 30 to 40 minute webinars deliver practical know-how and useful information on important PEO topics.

The modules are available for viewing anytime and are mobile-friendly, so you can watch them on any device, including desktops, tablets and mobiles.

To view the PEO Online Learning Modules, please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to https://peo.lts-online.net/home.
  2. Click on Enroll Now and then click on either Register Now to complete your registration or Log In if you have already registered.
  3. Click on Launch Course to view the video.

Online Learning Module Library:

Chairing Effective Meetings: This module explains how to effectively chair meetings to ensure they are productive, useful and enjoyable. The role of the chair and the key competencies of a good chair will be explored as well as how to prepare for and run a meeting, and what to do afterwards. You will also learn how to recognize potential problems, how to manage conflict and tips for chairing meetings via technology.

Engineers Make A Difference For Equity And Diversity: This module explains PEO’s Equity and Diversity Policy, and suggests practical ways to reduce barriers to meeting participation and engagement.

NEW! Government Liaison Program (GLP) Orientation: The PEO Government Liaison Program was established to ensure that government, PEO licence holders and the public continue to recognize PEO’s regulatory mandate. This module provides new PEO government liaison representatives with an overview of the Government Liaison Program, its key messages, government structure, key Ontario government ministries for PEO, and how to engage with government.

NEW! Licensure Assistance Program (LAP) Orientation: This module provides an overview of the LAP program and information on expectations of the program, roles of the guides and interns, resources available, tips on building the guide/intern relationship and setting goals. It will also explore the stages of the licensure assistance relationship, concerns that the guide and intern may have with regards to the program or relationship, building trust and providing constructive feedback.

Orientation for PEO Volunteers: This module gives general information about PEO and specific information about PEO’s volunteer program, including core values, committees and task forces, chapters and external volunteer appointments, as well as current policies and procedures. 

Our Mandate: This module focuses on what it means to be a self-regulating profession; and looks at PEO’s enabling legislation, its powers and responsibilities (licensing and registration, complaints, enforcement, tribunals and professional standards) as well as how its mandate differs from other engineering organizations. It also explores the relationship between the Attorney General and PEO, outlining the obligations of each.

Preparing Effective Briefing Notes: This module shows why effective briefing notes are important to successful Council meetings. Using real-life examples from Council meetings, learn the three types of briefing notes and where to find the necessary resources and materials.

Privacy at PEO: What You Need To Know: This module explains PEO’s Privacy Policy and provides guidance as to how the association interprets its ability to disclose information “as may be required in connection with the administration” of the legislation as set out in section 38 of the Professional Engineers Act.

Professional Practice Exam (PPE) Keys to Success: This module provides valuable guidance to those preparing for PEO’s Professional Practice Exam.
