PEO, and all provincial and territorial engineering regulators across Canada, are supporting Engineers Canada in its efforts to increase the representation of women within the engineering field through its 30 by 30 initiative.
At its September 2017 meeting, PEO Council confirmed its support for the 30 by 30 initiative—commitment to raising the percentage of newly licensed engineers in Canada who are women to 30 per cent by 2030. In 2017, only 19 per cent of newly licensed engineers in Ontario were women.
Council subsequently approved the formation of a 30 by 30 Task Force with a term of two years. The task force will work to provide visible leadership in addressing the underrepresentation of women licensed in the profession and develop an action plan to resolve this inequity.
Engineers Canada acknowledged PEO’s endorsement of the initiative in its e-newsletter published on October 19, 2017.

Membership: The task force shall consist of four (4) members including the PEO President (2017-2018); a member of the Executive Committee (2017-2018); a currently serving Councillor (2017-2018); and the Ontario representative on the Engineers Canada Equitable Participation in the Profession Committee (2017-2018).
