WINDSOR ESSEX CHAPTER PRESENTS:

Upcoming Event:

Assumption Church Restoration Tour

The Technical Programs Committee welcomes all Members (PEO and OACETT) to join us for another interesting construction site tour.  This year, we have made arrangements to visit the Our Lady of the Assumption Church, to see firsthand the restoration advancements being made on this very historic local structure.  Did you know this Roman Catholic church is the oldest continuous parish west of Montreal?  The church site was first established in the 1700s, and the current church was opened in 1845.  This is the fourth structure to be constructed on the site.  In 2014, the building was temporarily closed, since it was determined that $15 million in critical repairs and restoration work was needed through a four-phase process.  Phase 2 was completed in 2023.  More details on the history of the church and progress of the restoration can be viewed on the church’s website (https://assumptionparish.ca).  The church is presently open for regular weekend masses, as well as for our viewing pleasure through a guided tour by Pupatello & Sons Ltd. General Contractors on May 13, 2025.  The key details for the tour include the following points:
