2024 Family BBQ & Social Event
Long Trek Ranch
The Algonquin Chapter held its family BBQ at the Long Trek Ranch on Saturday, September 28 with nearly 50 enthusiastic attendees from both our chapter as well as from another Eastern Region chapter and PEO’s vice-president elect. This was the 2nd year the BBQ was held at this ranch and was great success.
The day kicked off with lively conversations and warm introductions between chapter board members and guests, setting the perfect tone for the afternoon. Meanwhile, hot Italian sausages and hamburgers, freshly prepared by the ranch, were sizzling on the grill, expertly roasted by our board members. The aroma was tantalizing and every bite was delicious while sitting around the small apple orchard. And of course everyone enjoyed biting into the freshly picked organic apples and cookies. As for the weather, we couldn’t ask for anything better – sunny and warm with clear blue sky.
After indulging in a mouthwatering feast, the fun continued with a spirited game of croquet, while others enjoyed a friendly bocce match on the freshly cut lawn. Some even played badminton on the tennis court. The excitement didn't stop there—kids were thrilled by a delightful piñata game, bursting with candy and laughter.
As the festivities continued , some guests embarked on a refreshing hike around the picturesque lake while the more daring hiked to the look-out point atop the 650 ft high mountain. From there they could see the Ottawa River and enjoy a gorgeous palette of Fall colours. Some even hiked the full 5 km round trip to the pristine lake atop the mountain.
This memorable day was a true celebration of our chapter’s camaraderie, and the great outdoors on a gorgeous picturesque setting.
