About PEO Chapters

PEO Chapters are the local presence for Professional Engineers Ontario across the province. Organized into five regions, the 36 chapters promote the value of engineering to local communities and provide an important link between licence holders and engineering interns (EITs) and PEO Council. They perform a range of functions including organizing licence certificate ceremonies; hosting technical seminars and social events; providing a forum for members to exchange knowledge and ideas; and offering professional networking opportunities.

Find answers to common questions

  1. You are welcome to attend events across all chapters; however you can only belong to a single chapter. Chapter membership is automatically based on your main address but you have the option to select a different chapter based on convenience. This can be done in the PEO Portal. Chapters offer a mix of in-person and virtual events and you are welcome to visit other chapters.

  2. There is no cost associated with being a chapter member. PEO licence holders and EITs are automatically assigned to their local chapter.  Please note, some chapter events may require payment for participation.

  3. PEO is not affiliated with the iron ring. For more information on the iron ring and how to replace a lost/damaged ring, please visit  www.ironring.ca.

  4. To transfer your chapter membership, please visit the PEO Portal and select an alternate chapter. Once the selection is made you will become a member of the selected alternate chapter instead of your primary assignment. Please note, for annual PEO Council elections, regardless of an alternate selection, licence holders are only eligible to vote for the regional councillor candidates of their primary chapter.

  5. Chapters often have exciting volunteer opportunities available. Apply to become a volunteer here.

  6. Chapters organize a number of technical seminars, symposiums, speaker series and other events. Inclusion of a PEO chapter event in your PEAK CPD report is based on individual discretion and whether a particular event/seminar is relevant for your area of practice. Only practice relevant activities are appropriate for continuing knowledge hours.  For more information on PEAK, click here.

  7. Guests are welcome. Please contact your chapter to find out more about the upcoming ceremony and guest limits for your particular chapter.

  8. PEO chapters organize technical seminars and symposiums, networking events for the professional engineering community, and a number of outreach programs for students. Please visit your chapter’s events page to learn more.

  9. As a professional regulator, PEO and PEO chapters do not host job boards or promote specific engineering employment opportunities.

  10. The chapter executive team is elected at chapter Annual General Meetings. Visit your chapter’s events page to learn more about your local chapter’s upcoming AGM.

  11. Visit your local chapter website to learn more about getting in touch with your local PEO chapter. Please use our interactive map to navigate to your local chapter’s website.

  12. No, chapters are operated locally by our network of volunteers who support PEO’s regulatory mandate by organizing chapter events and grassroot activities. PEO’s chapter network is supported by staff at the PEO Chapter Office who can be contacted directly by email.

  13. Check out the Events calendar and listings on this page to explore chapter events and stay connected with your chapter through email. Make sure you have a current email address in the PEO Portal. Communication preferences can be updated at any time in the Portal.
