Becoming a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)
To be considered for P.Eng. licensure, applicants must meet PEO’s academic and experience requirements and complete a good character assessment. Confirm if you can apply by completing the "Am I ready to apply?" survey.
More details on how to apply for licensure are available here.
Volunteers willing to participate in the Licensure Assistance Program (LAP) which provides an opportunity for experienced professional engineers (Guides) to mentor and assist engineering interns (EITs) pursuing their professional engineer (P.Eng.) licence are welcome. Please contact us with your interest.
Students and Educators
Education Outreach provides programs and activities and works with local schools and students to promote science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education and careers. Some past education activities include bridge-building competitions, golf ball challenge and straw structures. Watch our Events tab to search for upcoming educational outreach events, or, if you have an idea or suggestion for a STEM project the chapter would like to hear from you. Use the contact us form below.
Government Liaison Program (GLP)
PEO has a legislative mandate under the Professional Engineers Act to regulate the practice of engineering in the public interest. The self-regulating engineering profession—comprising 90,000 professionals—has been successfully serving and protecting the public for over 100 years since PEO’s founding in 1922. The GLP helps ensure the Ontario government, PEO licence holders and the public continue to recognize PEO’s regulatory mandate.
The GLP representatives look for opportunities to meet and build relationships with Members of Provincial Parliament (MPP). This allows for improved communication between the provincial government and PEO and supports the co-regulation of the engineering profession in the public interest. Our chapter encompasses 2 provincial ridings and part of a third and under the direction of PEO a GLP representative can be assigned to the 2 dominant ridings MPP (the 3rd is covered by another chapter). Our GLP representatives live and/or work in the riding of their assigned MPP.
