Message from the Chapter Chair

Through our work as professional engineers, leaders, and community members we are shaping the future of many generations to come. Our work today will impact our personal and professional life tomorrow. I encourage each and every member of our chapter to embrace innovation and collaborative ways in order for us to build strong communities that will stand the test of time. To move into the realm of resiliency and restorative development, we must keep asking questions and lead with kindness and a high sense of responsibility. More than ever, in today’s fast-paced and continuously changing environment, it is our professional duty to master the art of engineering with the public interest at heart.

As the Chapter Chair, I am deeply proud of our members, volunteers, and executives and their positive impact on our society’s safety and well-being.

Mariana Balaban, Ph.D., P.Eng. (she/her/hers)

Chapter committees

  1. Communications outreach with Chapter members is achieved via emails, the chapter website, Event-Brite and our social media channels.

  2. GLP members work to ensure that government, elected officials and the public continue to recognize and understand PEO’s regulatory mandate and policy directions.

  3. Education outreach members will work with local schools, teachers and students to promote science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education and careers.

  4. EIT provides engineering interns (EITs) with guidance, mentoring and support as they work towards their professional engineer (P.Eng.) licence.  At present there is no formal system available and is open to volunteers to promote.

  5. Events are planned and organized by the executive for networking, recognition, professional development, recreational and more—for chapter members.

  6. The chapter executive is open to all members wishing to submit their name as potential executive members at any time throughout the year.  Executive membership is confirmed at or following the annual meeting of the Chapter.
