PEO is committed to engaging with stakeholders on emerging issues and matters related to our regulatory mandate so we may identify and address any gaps or potential risks in our operations.
As engagement opportunities arise, they will be posted on this web page and promoted through our regular communications channels.
We welcome your suggestions and comments on our processes and encourage you to reach out to us at any time using the contact box below.
Open consultations—Opportunity to provide feedback
As part of PEO’s commitment to stakeholder engagement, we are currently conducting a public consultation on discontinuing our 1993 Professional Engineers Providing Geotechnical Engineering Services guideline.
We are considering discontinuing the guideline due to its age, low interest in this specific guideline over the past year, and the availability of geo-related resources from Professional Geoscientists Ontario.
As part of this process, we are providing a one-month consultation period to ensure that the discontinuation of this guideline will not impact any ongoing geotechnical projects in Ontario.
Provide your feedback
If you have any questions, comments or concerns related to PEO discontinuing the Professional Engineers Providing Geotechnical Engineering guideline, please email us at [email protected] by November 30, 2024.
Closed consultations
Over the last year, Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) has been working towards refreshing its vision to ensure all stakeholders see relevance and value in the organization.
The Visioning 2050 process has been designed to involve PEO stakeholders in the creation of a new vision statement. Hundreds of licence holders, engineering students, and stakeholders of PEO have answered the call for input into this important process. All have actively contributed to the creation of the vision statements you will be asked to provide feedback on and rank in this survey.
We ask that you take a few minutes to complete the survey and contribute your input to this process.

PEO’s new vision statement will help guide future strategies and decisions as the engineering profession continues to evolve. With your input, we hope to achieve a vision statement that is inspirational, clarifies PEO’s purpose, and that is accepted by many.
What is your vision for PEO? We want to hear it!
The survey closes end of day, Friday, November 1st.
Thank you,
Roydon Fraser
Past President, PEO
As part of PEO’s commitment to stakeholder engagement, we are currently engaging in a public consultation on our Services of the Engineers Acting Under the Drainage Act guideline.
We are considering discontinuing our 1998 Services of the Engineer Acting Under the Drainage Act guideline in favour of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' (OMAFRA) Publication 852: A Guide for Engineers Working under the Drainage Act In Ontario, along with two OMAFRA factsheets addressing the new processes created through Ontario Regulation 500/21:
- Updating an engineer’s report due to unforeseen circumstances during drainage construction
- Minor improvement projects under the Drainage Act, 1990
As part of this process, we are providing a one-month consultation period to ensure that the discontinuation of this guideline will not impact any ongoing drainage projects in Ontario communities.
Provide your feedback
If you have any questions, comments or concerns related to PEO discontinuing the Services of the Engineer Acting Under the Drainage Act guideline and its replacement with the OMAFRA publications, please email us at [email protected] by October 23, 2024.

The purpose of this guideline is to provide best practices for engineers who assume responsibility for work within the practice of professional engineering performed by unlicensed persons; and personally supervise and direct the provision of services within the practice of professional engineering.
2. Professional Engineers Reviewing Work Prepared by Another Professional Engineer
This guideline provides professional engineers with guidance on how to conduct reviews of work prepared by other practitioners in a professionally acceptable manner.
Thank you in advance for your input and helping to ensure our guidelines remain current and relevant.
PEO is currently reviewing our The Professional Engineer as an Expert Witness guideline and is seeking feedback from licence holders. Please complete our survey by October 23, 2024.

Thank you in advance for contributing to the PEO guideline.
PEO is conducting surveys related to time-based experience and Canadian experience. Licence holders who meet the requirements to participate have been notified. These surveys will close on October 1, 2024.
Strategic Stakeholder Advisory Group
The Strategic Stakeholder Advisory Group (SSAG) is a critical element to enhancing our strategic capabilities through increased engagement with our stakeholders. Comprised of volunteers from the engineering community across the province, the SSAG is a key instrument in supporting a comprehensive and far-reaching engagement process that contributes to well-informed deliberations on significant regulatory issues. The group provides input on recommendations for potential strategies and activities related to PEO’s regulatory mandate, and helps to facilitate dialogue with licence and certificate holders, members of the engineering community and other stakeholders as required. Their work helps to ensure that a diversity of perspectives is taken into consideration when positions or initiatives are being considered by PEO.
