2025 PEO Hybrid Annual General Meeting

PEO’s AGM will be held on April 26, 2025 using a hybrid meeting format. This means proceedings will be conducted via live webcast with some in-person participation. P.Eng. licence holders will have the opportunity to ask questions live (in person or virtually) during the meeting, submit questions online during the meeting and provide submissions in advance. Licence holders interested in participating in the meeting, including voting on business properly brought before the meeting, will need access to an internet-connected device for the full duration of the meeting.

In-person space is limited. All wishing to attend the meeting must pre-register onlineRegistration closes Friday, April 25, 2025 at 10 a.m. EDT.

Annual General Meeting: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Keynote address by Tracy Adams on Professional Regulation, Deregulation and the Public Interest in Uncertain Times

Overview: Recent technological, political, social and economic changes present challenges for self-regulating professions and regulatory bodies. This talk will provide an overview of these challenges, and consider their implications for professional engineers and the public. It will conclude with some reflections on how professions, professionals, and regulatory bodies might navigate these challenges in the coming years.

Biography: Tracey Adams is sociology professor, with two primary areas of interest. The first focuses on the regulation of professions in the past and present in Canada and in comparative contexts. The second explores the changing nature of professional work. She is the author of an award-winning book, Regulating Professions, and over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles on these topics.
