Haris Ahmadzai, P.Eng., CEM, CEA, FEC
A committed volunteer with the Chatham-Kent Chapter since 2012, Haris Ahmadzai has been a tireless and enthusiastic contributor, serving on the chapter executive for multiple years and spearheading local GLP and professional development efforts.
Besides his service as chapter chair and vice chair, Haris is deeply involved with creating educational opportunities for chapter members, facilitating lunch-and-learn sessions and organizing technical tours. Over several years, members have learned about the operations of local greenhouses, waste treatment, manufacturing facilities and more. The tours are a mix of technical and operational information, featuring facility tours followed by networking and discussion with personnel.
Haris also heads up the chapter’s GLP program. He has been Chatham-Kent’s main GLP contact since the program began and ensures local politicians are apprised of PEO positions and invited to technical tours and events. He has also been active in helping develop the GLP program provincially. Early into the program, Haris organized the first GLP Academy where GLP representatives from across the province came to Chatham for a weekend education session. The academy was a huge success and a cornerstone for the development of the GLP program.
Another of Haris’s major chapter contributions is his involvement with the Western Regional Congress meetings. He attends most congresses, bringing back detailed notes to keep his fellow executives up to speed on PEO and chapter issues and acting as a liaison for members to bring forward issues and concerns to the congress.
