Kenneth C. McMartin, P.Eng.
For over 18 years, including eight on PEO Council, Ken McMartin has provided exceptional leadership to the engineering profession.
A strong voice for the chapter system, Engineer McMartin began his PEO volunteer service as a member of the Ottawa Chapter Executive in 1987. He chaired the chapter, PEO’s largest, in 1991-1992.
From there he moved on to PEO Council, serving terms as Eastern Regional Councillor (twice), elected Vice President and President-elect before becoming PEO President in 2003-2004. He concluded his Council service as Past President the following year.
During these years, he participated actively on and led numerous PEO committees and task forces. His contributions include developing the Enforcement Committee as its first Chair, and reviewing and updating PEO financial policy as Chair of the Finance Committee.
While on Council, McMartin was instrumental in initiating PEO’s Student Membership Program, which enables full time engineering students in Ontario to begin building a relationship with PEO. At a personal level, he also mentors future professionals as manager, civil and environmental engineering laboratories at Carleton University.
One of three PEO directors on the board of the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers (CCPE), McMartin chose last year to broaden the scope of his contribution to the profession, when he was elected CCPE president-elect. His term as CCPE president will begin on June 3, 2006.
In recognition of his invaluable and unwavering leadership of PEO, and now the engineering profession, Kenneth C. McMartin is invested as a Companion of the Professional Engineers Ontario Order of Honour.
