Michael Kwok- Wai Chan, P.Eng., FEC

In his every role as a PEO volunteer, Michael Chan has been an exemplary ambassador for the profession, always serving with integrity.

Since receiving his Ontario Professional Engineers Award for Citizenship in 2007 and being inducted as a Member of the Order of Honour in 2015, Michael has continued his volunteer efforts—especially at the provincial level where he has served on PEO Council as Councillor-at-Large, LGA Councillor and Appointed Vice President; as well as Council committees, including service on the executive, Audit (vice chair) and Finance (chair) committees. On top of his Council commitments, since 2015 Michael has also served on PEO’s Registration, Discipline, Government Liaison and Advisory Committee on Volunteers (ACV) committees.

Michael’s simultaneous involvement on several PEO committees/subcommittees was key to helping the ACV better understand the needs of PEO committees so it could provide more effective assistance with policy development and training needs. And during his time as chair of the Finance Committee, he helped start the first finance-audit joint committees’ annual meeting, which ultimately paved the way for combining the Finance and Audit committees into one Joint Finance-Audit Committee at PEO.

Throughout his volunteer service with PEO, Michael has consistently demonstrated a commitment to teamwork and advancing the engineering profession.

Besides his volunteer commitments with PEO, Michael has served as a member and past president of the Federation of Chinese Canadian Professionals (FCCP), Vice -Chair of FCCP Education Foundation, a past co-chair of the Chinese Community Liaison Committee of Toronto Police Services 42 Division and a past president of the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto.
