Robert Henry Rehder, P.Eng., has devoted his career of 43 years with GE Canada to the design and development of electrical apparatus. He has concentrated his engineering designs in the fields of Medium-Voltage Switchgear, Central Power Station distribution, (where he developed a unique isolated phase bus-duct system), and in the development of high voltage insulation systems for large electric motors and generators. He conceived and developed the process of thermal cycling full size generator bars combined with multiple electrical testing to determine insulation life characteristics. The process is now used by electrical utilities worldwide to predict insulation life in hydro generators.
