Nancy Hill, P.Eng., LLB, FEC, FCAE

Nancy Hill is a professional engineer, lawyer, patent agent and trademark agent. She is a founding partner of the award-winning firm Hill & Schumacher. For over 25 years, Hill has been managing intellectual property rights for clients worldwide, including many universities across Canada. Considered an expert in her field, Hill’s area of focus is in robotics, structural steel, healthcare and green energy, with many of her clients going on to win prestigious awards for their innovations. As a sought-after speaker on intellectual property rights, Hill has given talks at the Ontario Centres of Excellence, the Law Society of Ontario, the Certified General Accountants of Ontario, as well as many PEO chapters. She has over 20 years of experience volunteering with PEO, including as past chair of the Complaints Committee, past chair of the Awards Committee, and past chair of the Women in Engineering Advisory Committee and in 2008 was invested as a Companion in the Order of Honour. In 2014, she was recognized for her influence on the engineering profession in Canada by being inducted as a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering. In 2017, she was named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women. Hill has worked tirelessly to affect positive change within PEO, and was instrumental in amending the Professional Engineers Act to include harassment as part of the definition of professional misconduct. As vice chair of the Council Term Limits Task Force, Hill was instrumental in getting Council to approve term limits for all elected councillors.
