Engineering regulator honours long-time volunteer for outstanding leadership in the profession

PRESS RELEASE

Toronto – (April 25, 2018) – For his valuable voluntary contributions to the community and engineering profession, Changiz Sadr, P.Eng., FEC, TOGAF, CISSP, of Willowdale, has been named an Officer of the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) Order of Honour. He was inducted into the Order at an April 20 gala in Toronto.

Since his induction into the Order as a Member in 2011, Sadr has continued his devoted service to the profession as an East Central Region Councillor for two terms and as a member of several committees, including the Audit, Finance, Discipline and Executive committees. He is also a member of the Experience Requirements Committee and serves on the interview panel for networking and communications engineering.

He extended his volunteer work by chairing the Regional Councillors Committee and by serving as PEO liaison on the council of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists.

A devoted advocate for diversity within the profession, Sadr remains invested in PEO’s licensing process. He assists many newcomers to Canada by helping them prepare for the Professional Practice Exam and document their engineering experience required for licensure. He also volunteers with settlement agencies as a mentor for new immigrant professionals and engineering graduates.

After more than two decades of volunteer work, Sadr says the most rewarding experience was seeing the trust other members had in him. “Volunteering means to give without any expectations and therefore there are not any personal gains in it,” he explains. “All I wanted for PEO was its betterment in whatever way I could help.”

The Order of Honour pays tribute to individuals who have rendered conspicuous service to the engineering profession. The rank of Officer is bestowed upon those who have served the profession for many years and whose sustained leadership has contributed greatly to its operation or improvement in its status.
