This year, 2022, marks PEO’s centennial, an important and proud milestone to reflect on our progress, changes and achievements. It is an exciting time to develop the next strategic plan for the beginning of the regulator’s next century. The 2023-2025 Strategic Plan will serve as a roadmap for how we will implement improvements that are fundamental to achieving and maintaining our change vision: To become a professional, modern regulator that delivers on its statutory mandate and is supported by a governance culture that consistently makes decisions that serve and protect the public interest.
At its April 8, 2022 meeting, PEO Council discussed progress to date and updates for the 2023-2025 strategic planning, including:
- The progress that has been made to date under its three transformational pillars: enhanced governance, modernized operations and superior organization;
- A strategy for regulators that support our statutory mandate: To serve and protect the public interest by setting and upholding high academic, experience, and professional practice standards for the engineering profession; and
- Timelines and steps to create the new strategic plan.
Part of the planning process included conducting an environmental scan, licence holder survey, consultations with key stakeholders, a public focus group and internal inventory. The findings of the environmental scan were presented to Council at its May 4, 2022 meeting. It comprises part of the preparation and pre-reading for a May 12-13 workshop at which Council will continue to develop the 2023-2025 Strategic Plan.
