New president and governing Council introduced at the 100th Annual General Meeting of Ontario engineering regulator

UPDATE

PEO installed Nick Colucci, P.Eng., FEC, as its 103rd president during its virtual annual general meeting (AGM) on April 30.

Mr. Colucci has over 30 years of experience working and volunteering in the engineering profession. Currently working as an engineer and director of infrastructure services with the Town of Erin, Mr. Colucci manages the infrastructure, roads, recreation and engineering departments for the municipality. He has also been a PEO volunteer since graduating from the University of Waterloo’s civil engineering program in 1987, serving on PEO Council and the boards of both the PEO Lake Ontario and Peterborough chapters. His service on PEO Council to date includes holding positions as East Central Region and Eastern Region councillor, as well as service on many of PEO’s regulatory committees.

At the AGM, PEO also introduced its Council for the 2022-2023 term. The five women and 20 men on the new Council will govern PEO’s 91,000 licence and certificate holders, and regulate professional engineering in Ontario to serve and protect the public interest.

The new leadership group includes province-wide representation from a wide array of sectors. The composition and operation of Council is dictated by Regulation 941 under the Professional Engineers Act. Most councillors are elected by PEO's licence holders. Currently, eight councillors are appointed by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, three of whom are not professional engineers.
