PEO offers condolences to the Muslim community and those affected by the London tragedy

A message from President Christian Bellini, P.Eng., FEC:

As the regulator of the practice of professional engineering in Ontario, PEO is deeply supportive of a profession that reflects the great diversity of our province.

Like all Canadians and people around the world, we are horrified by the tragic events that transpired in London this week, in which a multi-generational Muslim family appears to have been specifically targeted on the basis of their religion and ethnicity. We are further saddened to learn that one of the victims was a member of the broader engineering community. We join in expressing our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victims, and to the Muslim community in this province and beyond.

We continue to reinforce our own efforts, as a regulator, to promote equity and diversity, and eliminate hatred, prejudice, bias and discrimination as barriers to success and inclusion in the engineering profession.
