PRESS RELEASE

Toronto – (April 26, 2018) – For his contributions to advancing and promoting the engineering profession in the province, Rishi Kumar, P.Eng., PMP, CMC, GSC, FEC, of Mississauga, has been named an Officer of the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) Order of Honour. He was inducted into the Order at an April 20 gala in Toronto.

As a Mississauga Chapter volunteer, Kumar has served on a wide range of committees, including the Scholarship, Awards, Mentoring, Privacy and By-Law, Environmental and Executive committees. As chair of the Mentoring Committee, he helped connect engineering interns with P.Eng. mentors to provide guidance through the licensure process. “Helping others get their P.Eng. is my most rewarding experience as a PEO volunteer,” he says.

An enthusiastic supporter of education outreach, Kumar oversees the chapter’s scholarship program for high school students entering engineering studies. In this role, he develops program details, contacts school boards, encourages students to participate and reviews applications to the final selection and award presentations.

Kumar has also served on PEO’s Experience Requirements and Discipline committees, as well as the Equity and Diversity Committee for 14 years. As a member of the Experience Requirements Committee, he helped improve the experience requirements process and contributed to the development of new guidelines to advance the assessment process.

As a tribunal panel member, he has participated in discipline hearings to resolve complaints against PEO licence and certificate of authorization holders.

The Order of Honour pays tribute to individuals who have rendered conspicuous service to the engineering profession. The rank of Officer is bestowed upon those who have served the profession for many years and whose sustained leadership has contributed greatly to its operation or improvement in its status.
