Toronto – (April 26, 2018) – Recognized as a dedicated volunteer and influential force within the engineering profession, Santosh Gupta, PhD, M.E., P.Eng., FEC, of Scarborough, has been named an Officer of the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) Order of Honour. He was inducted into the Order at a gala in Toronto on April 20.
A civil engineer educated in both India and Canada, Dr. Gupta has devoted his time to the profession.
He served on PEO Council for 11 years, during which time he helped secure funding for the Women in Engineering Advisory Committee and supported mentorship programs to help engineering interns and international engineering graduates prepare for licensure.
As a member and chair of PEO’s Experience Requirements Committee, Dr. Gupta is committed to ensuring the association’s interview processes are transparent, fair and applicant-friendly. His volunteer experience extends to PEO’s Discipline, Finance, Audit, Regional Councillors and Awards committees.
Within PEO’s Scarborough Chapter, Dr. Gupta served as director, vice chair and chair of the Government Liaison Program Committee. He also promoted the importance of licensure through presentations on the licensing process to many organizations.
“My volunteer experience with the Scarborough Chapter gave me immense opportunities to promote the noble engineering profession and help Canadian and internationally trained engineers to become professionally licensed in Ontario,” he says.
The Order of Honour pays tribute to individuals who have rendered conspicuous service to the engineering profession. The rank of Officer is bestowed upon those who have served the profession for many years and whose sustained leadership has contributed greatly to its operation or improvement in its status.
