Toronto – (April 26, 2018) – An admired leader for his work promoting the engineering profession, Georg Kralik, P.Eng., FEC, of Toronto, has been named a Member of the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) Order of Honour. He was inducted into the Order at a gala on April 20 gala in Toronto.
Kralik has had a profound influence as a volunteer within PEO’s chapter system—having served as chair, vice chair and committee coordinator for PEO’s West Toronto and North Toronto chapters, and dedicating his time as a member of committees for women in engineering, the annual Engineering Innovations Forum, the Engineer-in-Residence program and licence presentation ceremonies.
In fact, his most rewarding experience has been supporting the licence ceremony. “For many, it’s crossing a major stage in their careers and life,” he says.
Kralik is also passionate about supporting educational outreach activities such as the FIRST Robotics and Women in Engineering and Science competitions, among other initiatives. “As a volunteer mentor and judge in all these programs, it is refreshing to see how young minds arrive at their solutions,” he says. “Experienced volunteers can really have great influence on these developing minds.”
As vice chair of the chapter’s Women in Engineering Committee, Kralik championed the inclusion of women in the profession. He continues to support and encourage efforts to increase gender diversity within the engineering profession.
The Order of Honour pays tribute to individuals who have rendered conspicuous service to the engineering profession. The rank of Member is bestowed upon those who have served the profession by contributing substantially to its operation or improvement in its status.
