As a lead nominator, you can nominate a worthy Order of Honour candidate—a long-time PEO volunteer colleague, mentor, friend, leader—by logging into the PEO portal and following these eight simple steps:
STEP
1Choose your Order of Honour nominee—a PEO licence holder with at least 10 years of substantial PEO volunteer service on PEO Council, committees and their subcommittees, task forces, chapters, as well as representing PEO on external boards and advisory groups.
STEP
2Find two PEO licence holder colleagues who know the nominee and their volunteer work to serve as co-nominators.
STEP
3Log into the PEO portal and navigate to the Order of Honour nomination tab.
STEP
4Type in the nominee’s name or PEO licence number where prompted. (This will automatically populate the nominee’s name, licence number, address and contact information in the nomination form.)
STEP
5In the Rationale, Accomplishments and Impact section, provide the reasons for your nomination, including the nominee’s contributions as a PEO volunteer; their impact on PEO, its chapters and the profession; and how they have supported PEO’s mandate to regulate the engineering profession in Ontario. This is your opportunity to detail your nominee’s volunteer accomplishments and explain why they should be inducted into the Order. This section includes:
- Rationale for nomination: A brief, high-level summary describing the nominee’s volunteer accomplishments and the impact they have made as a PEO volunteer.
- Length of volunteer service: How many calendar years of PEO volunteer service does your nominee have? (If you’re unclear, you can contact [email protected] for assistance.)
- Council, committee/task force, chapter, external service: PEO volunteers serve in many capacities, including on PEO Council, committees and task forces, PEO chapters and external organizations. In the fields provided, detail your nominee’s volunteer contributions, impact and achievements in each capacity, as applicable.
- JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) and societal impact: Order of Honour nominations also consider volunteer contributions related to JEDI initiatives, including expanding diversity and inclusion in the profession, dismantling systemic barriers and promoting fairness and social justice in engineering. In the fields provided, detail your nominee’s JEDI work and impacts at both the local and provincial/national levels, as applicable.
(Optionally, the lead nominator can also upload up to two files (photos, magazine clippings, letters of support from non-nominators, etc.) in support of the nomination.)
The lead nominator then saves the nomination data in the portal (you can save and go back to the nomination at any time before submitting.)
STEP
6The two co-nominators login to the PEO portal (separately), navigate to the Order of Honour nomination section and type their nominee's name or licence number to access the saved nomination.
STEP
7The two co-nominators provide their consent and digitally sign the nomination. They may also provide additional information to the nomination.
STEP
8The lead nominator must review the nomination in the portal, ensure it is complete, digitally sign the nomination and submit it for consideration by the Order of Honour Selection Committee. They can also get a copy of the completed nomination for their records.
