Important changes to PEO’s licensing processes
PEO made changes to our licence application process that make applying for an engineering licence more efficient, transparent and fair for all applicants. PEO’s modernized application process will ensure new applicants receive a registration decision within six months of submitting a completed licence application.
The new application rules for obtaining a P.Eng. licence also comply with new requirements set by the provincial government under the Fair Access to Regulated Professions and Compulsory Trades Act (FARPACTA).
PEO will launch an improved online application system on July 1, 2023.
A person who does not have an undergraduate degree in engineering from a program accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (non-CEAB) will have their academic qualifications assessed by PEO to determine whether it is equivalent to PEO’s academic requirements in the discipline of assessment. The disciplines of assessment and the corresponding PEO syllabi are noted further below on this webpage (scroll down).
PEO may assign a Confirmatory Examination Program (CEP) to provide an opportunity for a person to confirm that their academic qualifications are equivalent. A Specific Examination Program (SEP) may be assigned to an applicant where specific deficiencies are identified. Applicants who do not meet the minimum academic requirements to apply will not be assigned technical exams and will have their applications withdrawn.
How To Register
Log in to the PEO Portal, select “Fees” from the top menu bar and choose “Exam Registration” from the drop-down menu. The technical exams you need to write will be listed for you to select for registration.
Payment must be completed online via credit card. Payment for registration will be open in January for the Spring/Summer session, and July for the Fall/Winter session.
Candidates who are registered to write at the October-December 2023 sitting must book their proctoring session on eProctor's booking site between August 21 and September 4, 2023. You will not be able to write your registered technical exams at the October-December 2023 sitting if you do not book an exam time slot with eProctor. Please review the Fall/Winter 2023 Exam Schedule and EGBC's Status of Online Academic Exams webpage for the latest information pertaining to the technical session.
Dates and Resources
PEO partnered with Engineers & Geoscientists BC and APEGA to deliver virtual academic/technical exam sessions. Exam sittings will be written remotely by computer. Please review this new webpage that consolidates all information and updates regarding the exam, including timetable and list of aids for this remote writing: www.egbc.ca/Registration/Individual-Registrants/How-to-Apply/Examinations-Seminars/Academic-Examinations/Status-of-Online-Academic-Exams
Results
Technical examination results will be released approximately 45 working days after the date of your examination. You will receive an email alert to log in to PEO's portal once the results are available. The official result letter will be issued by email after the Spring/Summer or Fall/Winter technical session is completed.

Past Technical Exams
Interested in reviewing past technical exams to provide you with an understanding on how PEO exams are set and organized? Here are free past exams available for download from Engineers & Geoscientists BC (they use the same technical exams as PEO).
Important: Past exams are for information purposes and are not to be used as a study method for current exams. Answers are not available. The formats of past exams may differ from current and future exams.
If there are no past exams listed for the exam you’re writing, we don’t have a past exam on file.
